About the film

'Let Us Read' (currently in production) explores the potential benefits of adopting Structured Literacy in the US Public School system. While SL offers a solution to current US literacy challenges, it also promotes neurodiversity inclusion, which can strengthen our ability as a society to tackle social issues and achieve goals. LET US READ pushes the conversation to the next step.

How can we bring this solution to where the problem is and allow a fair education opportunity for everyone?

Personal storytelling is interwoven with interviews with top education and neuroscience leaders and personal stories of challenges and successes. We have already filmed extraordinary interviews, including R.O. Hardin Elementary School, the Chartwell School's Teacher Training Institute (which provides training to public school teachers with Structured Literacy skillset), the UCSF Dyslexia Center research labs, and are planning many more to give you an overall view about this topic.

About the producer/director

When Daniel Vital and his wife Rossella discovered their daughter had dyslexia, they were suddenly catapulted into an unexpected academic scenario. Learning about different learning styles and the strengths that a dyslexic brain may have, they searched nationwide for the best academic fit for their daughter. Once they found it, they sold their house, packed the car with their daughter and two dogs, and crossed the US from Illinois to California.  After witnessing significant improvements in their daughter's reading and writing skills, Daniel decided to produce a documentary to support and inspire other families facing the same challenges and further explore the topic of neurodiversity and the opportunities that neurodiversity inclusion may bring to the entire society we all live in.

Daniel is a professional filmmaker with over two decades of experience. His work has received awards including a Telly Award and a regional EMMY-nomination for a Public Service Announcement he wrote and directed in 2020. He has filmed documentary footage in Tibet, China, and worked on several international projects.
